Annual event

Addressing teachers and students of the participating schools, traditional rulers and officers from the Asuogyaman Education Directorate who witnessed the programme, the sponsor, Mr Ansah said the competition he instituted since 2017 would be an annual event to lift the image of education in the district.

Core subjects

He said the questions were set from the syllabus of the four core subjects of the senior high school namely English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies to generate a healthy competition among the senior high schools in the district.

According to Mr Ansah, the level of education in the Asuogyaman District left much to be desired, and through such competitions, the standard would be lifted up in the very near future.

He said his ambition was that in 10 years time, every house in Asuogyaman should at least produce a graduate from either the university or polytechnics to fill the human resource gap in the district.

“Asuogyaman must change and I am sure with quality education, we shall get there within the next 10 years’’, he assured.

Responsibility of assembly

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Samuel Kwame Agyekum, lauded Mr Ansah for what he described as lifting part of the responsibility of the district assembly.

He said there were several interventions that would help sustain quality education delivery in the country and therefore called on all people in the district who had the education of the youth at heart to emulate the shining example of Mr Ansah.

The Asuogyaman District Director of Education, Ms Mavis Oparebea Yirenkyi, who testified that Mr Ansah’s intervention in the basic schools yielded positive results, called for more from other Asuogyaman citizens to move the current level of education to a higher level in the district.
