‘Support government’s education policies for development’

The Chief of Jachie in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region, Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, has called for massive support for the government’s drive towards education development in the country.

According to the chief, although it is the responsibility of the government to lead the drive for educational development in the country, complementing the government’s effort is a civic responsibility of all and the best way of getting the best for the nation.

He, therefore, called on all stakeholders in both the private and public sectors in the country’s education to do more to improve the nation’s education which held the key for national development.

The visit

Baffour Amoateng made the call in an interview with the Daily Graphic after he had visited some basic schools in the Jachie township before and during the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The visits were aimed at encouraging the candidates to remain focused and to write the exams to enable them to reach their dreams.

At the various schools, he urged the candidates to avoid acts that could cause their arrest which in the long run, would affect their future.

Beneficiary schools

Before the commencement of the examination, Baffour Amoateng presented more than 300 mathematical sets and pens to all BECE candidates in the Jachie community.

Some of the schools which benefitted from the mathematical sets and the visits were the Saint Anthony Roman Catholic, Jachie D/A 1, Jachie D/A 2, Prenyase and Jachie SDA Junior High School, all in the Jachie community.

Leakage-free

The chief lauded the management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for ensuring that the issue of exams question leakage was a thing of the past.

He was upbeat that, that feat would surely improve the trust people had in the examination body and urged the pupils to choose good role models whom they could emulate as they continued their education later on in life wherever they might find themselves after their education.
