Old students build ceremonial stage for Labone SHS

The 1978 Year Group of the Labone Senior High School (SHS) has built a ceremonial stage for the school.

The project was undertaken as part of the group’s 40th anniversary.

At a short inaugural durbar to hand-over the facility to the school, the president of the Labone Old Students’ Association (LOSA), Mr Joshua Akrong, said the provision of the platform would enable the school authorities to organise speech and prize-giving days and other events successfully without any interference from weather conditions and other challenges.

He said LOSA was committed to improving the school’s infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning, stressing that “we want to improve the facilities in the school to make life easy for the students so that they can also grow and be like us or better than us.”

He said the association had more plans in the pipeline for the school and would execute them in due course.

He also advised the students to focus more on their studies, adding that their performance would also encourage the group to keep donating to the school.

“If you don’t perform well, it means all our efforts will be in vain, so I will entreat you to study harder to merit our effort,” he said.

Appreciation

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Cynthia Obuonti, commended the group for its support and encouraged the LOSA to continue to support the school to contribute to addressing some challenges confronting the school.

She mentioned that most of the classrooms in the school needed renovation especially with the roofing and windows and also appealed for support for the completion of the staff block which was started in 2010 by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The headmistress also said the school needed additional computers at the computer lab.

She also called for the renovation of the school’s canteen and the dining hall
