Organised by the Zongo Inspiration Team (ZIT), a non-governmental organisation, the competition is also to whip up healthy academic rivalry among basic schools in the Ayawaso municipalities at a time they were taking  low positions on the BECE league table in the Accra Metropolis.

They are Nima Presbyterian School, Kotobabi ‘7’ Junior High School (JHS), St Kizito R/C School, De Youngsters School, Nima ‘2’ JHS, Patience Preparatory School, Al Falah Islamic School and Nima ‘1’ JHS.

Nima ‘2’ JHS won last year’s competition dismissing stiff competition from Ring Road East JHS.

Speaking to Graphic Online, the President of ZIT, Mr Rabiu Maude, said the quiz was the NGO’s intervention to help improve results of the schools, the contesting and non-contesting students to push for academic excellence.

Expressed satisfaction with the interest and enthusiasm among the participating schools.

“Winning participants also get to go home with packages such as stationery that will be useful to them during the B.E.C.E and also when they enter SHS...There are computers to be won to aid their studies.

“Lastly....it serves as a confidence booster...and the experience is imprinted in the memory of the child...this has a positive net effect to inspire greatness and achievement,” he added.

As part of the initiative, an observation report from the competition will be submitted to the schools and the Ayawaso circuit of the Ghana Education Service detailing the Strengths and weaknesses of the students to help them as they prepare for the BECE
