The role of suits in a business or social setting cannot be overemphasised. Suits are definitely a must-have, especially for those who play various roles in our corporate setting. Suits have the power to make and unmake the image of men.

There are many factors which influence the choice for a suit but note that your choice for a suit is affected by seven factors.
The cut of your suit- is it a closed vent, single vent or double vent? Your body type- do you have an endormorph, ectomorph or a mesomorph body build?
The material used, your height, complexion, the occasion and, finally, your budget (as in how much you are prepared to spend).
Of all these factors, the most important aspect is your body type, the cut of the suit, the material used and the occasion.
Types of suits
The single-breasted suit
The front buttons on a suit are in a single straight row. You also have button options such as 1, 2, 3, 4 buttons.
The narrow overlap of the fabric and with three or four buttons, will elongate a larger upper body and tend to flatter the slim body types.
Bulkier guys can opt for a single or double-buttoned suit.
Remember that on a double-buttoned suit, only the top button is closed the other is left unbuttoned, and always remember to unbutton your suit when seated.
The double-breasted suit
The suit jacket has one of its front overlapping the other with two sets of buttons. The jacket of a double-breasted suit has two sets of buttons to hold the jacket closed as it wraps a little further around the waist
In double-breasted suits, mostly one column of buttons is simply decorative.
Double-breasted suits have a slenderising effect on portly men, while that extra panel of fabric can appear to swallow the physique of slender men.
So they look much better on large-framed guys.
Three piece-vested suit
This is a more formal version of the single button-breasted suit. The three piece suit is best worn with the jacket, vest and trousers in the same material colour.
The vest can be worn alone with your trousers to create a casual look. They can be very useful during cold weather when you want an extra layer of cloth to keep warm.
The vest is also useful in holding your necktie in place. Ensure that the length of the vest goes beyond the loops of your belted trouser for a well-dressed look.
