Young girls cautioned against abortion

A visually impaired man, Mr Daniel Nii Quaye, has called on young adults to desist from aborting unwanted pregnancies as it is risky and could cause blindness in children.

He said when young girls attempted to abort pregnancies by using drugs and unsafe methods they caused deformities in the unborn babies.

He said drugs contained harmful chemicals which hindered the proper development of the foetus, leading to deformities such as blindness.

Mr Quaye said this when he visited the Seenim Salvation Christian Church to educate the youth on how to protect their eyesight.

He said parents should regularly check the eyes of their children for early detection of diseases that were likely to affect them.

“We must avoid buying eye drops without prescription,” he said, adding that children must not play with sand as it could get into enter their eyes and cause blindness.

“Children should also avoid playing in stagnant waters since they contain bacteria that can cause blindness. You should avoid hitting one another around the eyes, and make sure you visit the hospital to check your eyes at least twice in a year,” he added.

The Head Pastor of Seenim Salvation Christian Church, Rev. Philip S.J. Akweteh, also pleaded with parents to protect and guide their children against doing things that would harm their eyes.
