The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Ato Afful, has entreated parents to spend time to get their children to read in order to instil in them the culture of reading.
He said when they committed children to read, it bred discipline in them, a sense of purpose, planning and focus.
“When you commit them to read, it will build a certain culture that will inure to the benefit of the children, their school system and help you the parents as well.
I will, therefore, entreat you to read with the children, resource them to read and the Junior Graphic will play a complementary role to help you in this,” he stated.
Mr Afful said this at the 20th Anniversary Cake-cutting Ceremony of the Junior Graphic, a publication of the GCGL. Other publications of the GCGL are the Daily Graphic (the flagship newspaper), The Mirror, Graphic Showbiz, Graphic Sports, Graphic Business and Graphic Online.
He said the COVID-19 era presented a challenge to parents to be directly involved in the education of their children because children were now spending a lot more time at home.
The managing director used the occasion to announce the continuous online publication of the Chief Examiner’s report and other content on the Graphic NewsPlus by the to help prepare candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He said the continuation of that online content would also help candidates to know how to answer BECE questions and also have an idea about the questions which were set.
“I, therefore, entreat students to take advantage of this opportunity to go through this content the newspaper is providing them online. I wish all the BECE candidates well in their examination,” he stated.
He commended staff of the brand for the
