Peace must prevail

Nine-year-old Peace Ambassador, Angela Mensah, has appealed to politicians to ensure that the country continues to enjoy peace after the Supreme Court verdict on the election petition brought before it.

She has also appealed to all children to continually speak with their parents not to do anything that would lead to conflicts and troubles when the court gives its verdict.

“We the children will be the losers if there is any conflict because we won’t be able to go to school and we can easily be killed since we cannot protect or defend ourselves,” Angela told the Junior Graphic in an interview.

Angela, who is also a pupil of Morning Angels International School, cautioned the youth to refuse to be used by anyone to cause confusion, adding, “I am appealing to the youth to use their strength to promote peace instead of engaging in conflicts.”

She also advised the youth against arguments over the election petition since that could lead to misunderstanding and quarrels and stressed that the country needed all the young people to be in school, to help develop themselves and the country.

“All of us, Ghanaians have to learn from other African countries such as Rwanda, Liberia, DR Congo and try never to do anything that will push our beloved country into the same situation,” she stressed.

She said both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had the same aim of governing Ghanaians and said it would be very difficult to achieve anything when there was confusion.

“Who will be there to be ruled?” she asked and appealed to all Ghanaians to intensify their prayers to sustain the peace in the country now.
