The highlights of the event were the installation of a chief, a traditional marriage ceremony, a child naming ceremony and a food fair.

The Proprietress of the school, Madam Gertrude Adjetey, said the day was part of the school’s academic activities to assist students to understand and appreciate the African culture and traditions.

That, she said, was to avoid the situation where pupils copied negative foreign cultures which in the end undermined the African culture.

She said African children and the youth needed to be well-educated and be abreast of their culture.

Madam Adjetey said the school was not only interested in teaching the core syllabus of the Ghana Education Service (GES) but also to ensure that the cultural heritage of Africa was not lost.
