MoneyGram donates books to schools

MoneyGram has donated 3,000 exercise books and 5,000 copies of the Junior Graphic newspaper to three schools in the Akyem Swedru Municipality, as part of this year’s “Awaa waa” School Promotion.
The books were donated to St Agatha’s Girls’ Primary, Akyem Swedru Methodist Primary and St Agatha’s Boys’ Primary Schools.

Mr Kwaku Acheampong, an opinion leader and alumnus of the Methodist School of Akyem Swedru expressed appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries to MoneyGram.

He encouraged the students to be serious in their studies and spend more time reading.

Mr Acheampong, also urged teachers to continue ensuring discipline in the schools as pupils are learning bad habits from their peers.

He appealed for MoneyGram’s assistance to stock a new community library with reading books and novels.

The various Headteachers of the schools including Mrs Victoria Dame, Headmistress of Akyem Swedru Methodist School, thanked MoneyGram for the donation.

Mrs Dame also urged the students to participate in the essay competition dubbed, “How to keep your cities clean” by MoneyGram and the Junior Graphic.

Mr Kofi Akyea, Senior Marketing Executive of MoneyGram in his comments pointed out that MoneyGram and its partner agents in the country were committed to supporting the efforts of its customers to develop the country.

Mr Akyea noted that MoneyGram and its agents had donated over 100,000 exercise books and other school supplies, over the last three years to schools across the country.

In addition to the book donations, he said Moneygram had provided mechanised boreholes to Asuboi, Somanya and the Abokobi township, as well as the Wa School for the Blind all in an effort to improve lives.

Mr Akyea encouragd the pupils to participate in the competition as they could win up to GH¢2,500 in scholarships and also pledged that MoneyGram would support the people of the town to stock their library.
