Presently, the siblings — Isaiah Mensah, eight, Isaaca Mensah, six, and Isaana Mensah, two — are being catered for by the department in a foster home.

The children can now play with others of their age in the home, while a clinical psychologist is helping them to socialise with other children.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of the department, Mr Benjamin Otoo, told the Junior Graphic that assisting the children to be able to socialise with others in society would have to be gradual.

“Until their rescue, the children knew no one else apart from their parents. So introducing them to the rest of society has to be a gradual process,” he added.

It would be recalled that on July 26, 2013, the Madina branch of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service rescued the three siblings who had been quarantined (isolated from the society) for nearly nine years by their parents.

The only friends the children had were three sheep and a fowl in an adjoining room. They had named the three sheep Lee, Matthew and Martha, and the fowl Genny.
