Twelve-year-old Abdul-Majeed enchanted the audience with his sultry skills and deft touches on the ball as he scored three classic goals to aid his team to emerge victors in the Boys
Under-12 football competition.

The football competition, which had players divided into three teams – Blue, Red and Green, saw Abdul-Majeed put up an excellent display as the Blue Team emerged champions much to the
admiration of spectators. The Green team won the Under-10 football contest.

“It is an honour to have won the MVP Award. I have been training hard and I believe the award is a reward for my hard work,” said Abdul-Majeed happily after receiving his award.

The schoolchildren, aged between five and 12, competed in events such as table tennis, taekwondo and football with winners taking home medals and souvenirs from sponsors.

The taekwondo event recorded huge numbers with over 100 children participating with students from the Mission International School winning most of the medals.

The final leg of the event will be staged on Saturday at the Ghana International School at Cantonments in Accra.

The three-week competition is sponsored by Ghana’s leading children’s newspaper, the Junior Graphic, Blue Band, Hollard Life, Call Angels, Medicas Hospital and Alpha Cuisine.
