Children urged to become good leaders

The Executive Director of ‘Press On Kids’, Mr Worlanyo Afenyo, has called on children to work hard in their studies to excel in their chosen fields and become great leaders in society.

“The things we read or the people we associate with as children go a long way to affect our personalities in future.

So as children you have to listen to good advice so that when you grow up you can become agents of change,” he said.

Mr Afenyo was speaking at the second Kids in Worship Programme held at the Legon Interdenominational Church in Accra.

He said becoming a good citizen depended on the kind of environment and foundation one’s character was built on and, therefore, urged all who provided education and care for children to create the right environment and opportunities for them to develop.

He said the idea behind the ‘Press On Kids’ concept was to give children an alternative in studying the word of God, as it was sometimes difficult for youngsters to find locally designed godly content on television.

Mr Afenyo acknowledged that “children don’t only learn from what we tell them; they learn from what we model; they watch us first before they hear us, so this concept is to help create an exciting yet educative environment for them to learn from.”

The Executive Secretary of ‘Press On Kids’, Mrs Pearl Dzidzoli Afenyo, said it was important for church leaders to develop the gifts of the children and channel them towards God so that the moral degradation going on in society would be addressed to make the nation morally upright for God’s glory.

‘Press On Kids’ is an interdenominational group of children who, among other things, sing gospel songs.

The group is over 10 years old and would be launching its latest album dubbed: “Sing the word” shortly.
