‘Children must stay away from funerals’

The Director of Education for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Mr Addo Dankwa Akuffo has advised parents not to attend funerals with their children.

He said children learn so many vices at funeral grounds so they should, as much as possible, prevent them from attending such functions.

Mr Akuffo, who gave the advice during the graduation of the Aim High School in Accra, said it would be of great benefit if children were left at home to study.

The theme for the ceremony was; ‘Sustaining quality education in Ghana, the role of stakeholders’. Twenty-four pupils graduated from Kindergarten to Primary One.

Mr Akuffo also asked parents to provide the needs of their children and train them to acquire good morals to prevent them from engaging in various kinds of social vices.

“If a child is brought up well, he or she will not fall victim to waywardness or exhibit delinquent behaviours but would grow up to become a useful citizen in future,” he added.

The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Comfort Awonlie. A. Payne advised parents to help their children to study because the primary level that their children would be progressing to in the next academic year was more intense and needed serious attention.

The graduation was marked with a host of performances such as cultural dances, a modeling competition, choreography displays, drama and poetry recitals by the graduates.
Certificates were awarded to all graduating pupils and those who performed well in class.
