‘Be considerate in applying the rod’

The Member of Parliament  (MP) for the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Mr Vincent Odotei Sowah, has advised teachers not to cane students at the least provocation.

He pleaded with teachers to be considerate in applying the rod.

He said: “The children we scare out of school today will be the ones inventing the new applications and software in the near future.”

Mr Odotei Sowah was speaking  at the 13th graduation and second Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Coming King School at La, Accra.

The ceremony was on the theme: “Discipline and hard work in a child's academic life is a shared responsibility.”

The MP encouraged parents to honour their financial obligations in respect of their children’s education to the school to ensure that their wards received quality education.

The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Felicia Kordey Okoe, said the most important gift to children is to encourage them to have a positive view of themselves.

She commended the parents for their continued support for their children’s education in the school.

The La Dadekotopon Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Bernice Aduo Addae, advised the pupils and students to focus on their books and stay away from things that would put them into trouble.

Prizes and certificates were presented to deserving students.
