2018 Private BECE results out

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates.

The council is withholding the results of seven candidates due to alleged examination malpractices.

A statement released by WAEC said the withheld results would be released as soon as the council concluded its investigations.

The statement, which was signed by the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said the council had posted the results online and candidates could access their results on the council’s website.

It said 11,886 candidates, made up of 6,886 males and 5,000 females, sat for the examination at 41 centres throughout the country.

The figure represents a sharp increase in the number of candidates who have written the examination since its introduction in 2015.

Last year, 1,379 candidates sat for the examination, while 1,418 candidates took part in the examination in 2016. The maiden edition of the examination in 2015 had 1,181 candidates.

In a related development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has asked candidates who sat for the private BECE  in February 2018 to visit the website, www.waecinternetsolution.org to go through the school selection process to be considered for placement for the 2018/2019 academic year.

According to the statement signed by the Head of the  Public Relations Unit of the service, Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo,   candidates were expected  to carefully read the guidelines for the selection of schools before they started the process.

It said the deadline for the selection was Monday, July 2, 2018.
