Morocco has proposed a royal political mechanism for dialogue and consultation with Algeria.

These include providing a framework for frank and direct dialogue, without taboos, in order to iron out all the differences and solve all the challenges that hinder the development of bilateral relations.
Secondly, committing itself to a bilateral cooperation framework to examine all common issues, with frankness, objectivity, sincerity and good faith, without conditions or exceptions, according to an open agenda.
It further constitutes a framework for consultation on regional and global issues, such as the fight against terrorism, illegal migration and the fight against drug trafficking.
A statement issued by the Moroccan Embassy in Accra, followed a speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Green March.
The mechanism remains a flexible framework, the level of representation, as well as the format and nature, which is expected to be mutually agreed upon when Algiers gives its approval to this proposal and it will be eventually enriched by new ideas and initiatives.
It pointed out a common history which conjures up the fight against the same coloniser and reflects a strong, developed relationship during this era, based on a strong awareness regarding the need to establish a joint political action in the Maghreb.
The statement noted a worrisome present characterised by division and discord which prevailed the Maghreb in a sharp contrast with what unites the two peoples.
