The leadership of the Republican Party has stated clearly that it would not unduly promote anyone of the candidates vying to lead the party in this year’s presidential election in the on-going primaries.

“We will not endorse anyone of the candidates over the other. I think it is very important to have an open market for all the candidates.

“In the very beginning, we started with 17 candidates, we have gone through the process and they are now left with three and we are prepared to help them to go through the process and by the evening of Tuesday, May 3, we are going to know who comes top,” the Chairman of the Indiana State Republican Party, Mr Jeff Cardwell told foreign journalists covering the presidential primaries in Indianapolis.

Mr Cardwell made this known when he hosted foreign journalists covering the presidential primaries in the Indiana State in his office in the Indianapolis, USA.

Reporting tour

The foreign journalists made up of 24 from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe are in the US at the invitation of the US Foreign Press Centre for a global reporting tour focused on the 2016 elections in that country.

The tour is aimed at helping foreign journalists to better analyse the U.S. national electoral process, as well as do more in-depth features that explain to their readers/audiences, the American voter and the unique democratic political system.

Remain neutral

He said what he was doing was to remain a strong party chairman committed to forging unity and leading the party in the state to an overwhelming victory, “and come January 2017, you will have either a Trump-led or Cruz-led government to restore the dignity of the American people.”

He encouraged party supporters, especially in the Indiana State to move out in their numbers to vote for their preferred choice, adding that information available showed that turnout for the party primaries would hit an all-time record of 78 per cent.

No interference

Asked whether the party would talk to the front-runner of the party’s primaries, Mr Donald Trump to change his message in order to boost the chances of the party in the event of he being the candidate for the party, Mr Williams maintained that the party would not interfere with the campaign style of Mr Trump.

He said the party would not interfere with any of the candidate’s campaign method and pledged that the party would remain neutral until the choice of the people was picked.
