Mali win West Africa Deaf Football tourney as Ghana finished fourth

The Malian hearing-impaired national football team on Sunday, August 12 defeated their Nigerian counterparts 1-0 to emerge winners of the 8th West Africa Deaf Football tourney held at the Stade Omnisport in Lomé, Togo.

The Malians earlier beat hosts Togo 3-1 in their opening match, won 2-0 against Ghana before meeting the Nigerians in the final.

Ghana’s team, Black Wonders missed the bronze medal after they lost their last game against the Togolese on penalties on Friday, August 10 at the Omnisport Stadium.

The Ghanaians thrashed Benin 9-0 in their opening match and drew 1-1 with Nigeria but lost their last game to Togo which cost them the third place.

Despite their performance, coach of the side, Chartey Annan has commended the Ghanaian players for finishing fourth at the eight-nation tourney.
