Hockey: Can ADISCO, Kumasi Girls defend trophies?

 THE Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra will witness one of the most competitive hockey tournaments among 18 second-cycle schools from five regions between Friday June 14 and Saturday June 15.

Dubbed 2019 Citizens International Inter Schools (CIIS) hockey fiesta, the competition will renew the rivalry between the participating schools and also draw hockey fans to the stadium to see which school will win the bragging rights in this year’s tournament.

As part of the attraction, the organisers embarked on a trophy tour of the participating schools to enable players and the school authorities to have a feel of it.

Among the participating schools are defending champions of the male division, Adisadel College from Cape Coast, who have won the trophy since the inception of the competition three years ago.

Others are Mfanstipim Senior High School and St Augustine’s, also from Cape Coast; Prempeh College and Opoku Ware School (Kumasi); Achimota SHS, Accra Academy SHS, Ebenezer SHS and Presby Boys (Accra); St Peter’s (Nkwatia), Agortime SHS (Kpetoe) and Edinaman SHS (Elmina).

The female schools are defending champions, Kumasi Girls, and Yaa Asantewaa (Kumasi); Wesley Girls (Cape Coast), Mfantsiman Girls (Saltpond), Achimota Girls, Agortime and Ebenezer SHS.

The maiden edition attracted three female schools,Achimota Girls, Yaa Asantewa Girls and Wesley Girls, while Accra Academy, Achimota, Prempeh College, Opoku Ware, Adisadel College, St Augustine's College and Mfantsipim participated in the male division.
