The GCA presidential T20 tournament commences this weekend at the Achimota Oval as participating teams look confident in outlasting their opponents with the winning mentality that can help them through this year’s tournament.

In a Pool B match which will feature United CC and Defenders XI in the early hours of Sunday which looks potentially trilling as both teams are waiting for a win. United CC rested on week 3 and hope for a win as they are very prepared with their game plans.

United CC thinks even though their young boys could not cope with pressure in their previous match, they are confident they would carry the day against their opponent. The captain of United CC, Amoluk, in an interview with TalksenseSports said, “We will play with full potential against Defenders XI and we are taking on a game at a time, and as it comes. We are going to improve on our batting, we will play our best and hope to win. We just want to qualify to the semis first and then from there, we know our next step”.

United CC lost by 5 runs as their batting order fell short in the second innings, whiles chasing 92 runs to Supreme Warriors in their previous game which sees them 3rd and tied on 2 points but with the Defenders, they are optimistic to defeat United CC again so their qualification.

In a match which will feature Nsoroma GPS and MMG, anticipate a battle counter as both teams are mounting different approaches and plans to defeat each other.

The founder of Nsrooma Academy, Mr SNEB Asamoah, believes his team has the winning spirit as his boys are young and active to downplay MMG, and that nothing can stop them from winning. He thinks his opponent does not have the quality to match his team which will be a shame if Nsoroma lose to MMG.

“We are young and active but they are a “wonkyendi” team, if they score us, I will walk from my house to Jubilee House naked and will need a truck to carry the runs home”. Mr  Asamoah said in an interview with Daily Graphic.

The captain of Nsoroma, Mark Bawa, further stated that they were very prepared to welcome MMG in their next encounter as their focus was the semis, and after to the finals so they can execute what they know best to win the title. To him, his team is motivated to prove a point with the young team and are ready to motivate his teammates’ determination to overshadow their opponent.

The captain of MMG thinks Nsoroma has nothing to defeat them in this encounter as his team is positive to defeat their opponent. “The players are positive thought we lost against Everest in our first match. We have learnt from our mistakes and ready to set fire against Nsoroma. If we win toss we will field first and restrict them under 120 which will be a winning for us” he said to Daily Graphic in an interview.

Carel Superkings will lock horns with Everest on Oval A. Everest is confident to continue their previous win. The director of Everest Cricket club, Mr V. Girish, hoped that with the good players on their side, they expect a good game and probably a win on their side. He thinks with the quality players like Isaac, Godfred, Madha and the young fast bowler they will defeat their opponent.

The last match will feature Kyebi Leopards welcoming Taysec Titans as both teams are eager to win.
The Ghana Cricket Association hopes for sponsorship for the tournament which is full of thrills and surprises at the Achimota Oval.
