Galaxy International retains Unilever Schools Minigolf Cup

Galaxy international School retained the top prize of the Unilever Schools Minigolf championship with Emmanuel Darko showing class to finish ahead his opponents with a total score of 41 and four hole-in-ones in the final held at the Ridge Sports City in Accra. 

He took home a 32” television set, GH¢500 worth of products from Interplast for his school, a trophy, medal and a calorificate.

Blessing Noi of Pat Academy finished in second place with a total score of 47 to take home a brand new Microwave oven, GH¢500 worth of products from Interplast, a trophy for her school, a medal and a certificate, while her schoolmate Emmanuel Mensah took the third position with a total of 48 points and two hole-in-one.

Vincent of Pat Academy, Naomi of Galaxy International and Klinsman of Pat Academy finished in fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.

At the Kumasi Technical University where the competition took place for schools in the Ashanti Region, Modern International School came out tops with superstar Heartwil Frimpong scoring 42 points and four hole-in-ones to be crowned King of the nine-hole Mobile Lane Course.

Solomon Appiah finished in second position with 42 points and five hole-in-ones, while Esther Agbashie of Pentecostal School emerged at the best female player with 44 points. Mawuli of Kubinson International School and Esther Agbeshie swept the prize for the Most Hole-In-One score in male and female categories.

Both competitions were organised by the Ghana Minigolf Federation involving 10 schools aimed at introducing the sport to schoolchildren to become a national pastime.

Supporting sponsors this year’s Unilever Schools Minigolf tournament are Melcom, Latex Foam, Interplast, Unilever and Azar Paints.
