A 40 overs round robin cricket tournament will start on February 16 at the Achimota Cricket Oval to usher in the new season and help the participating teams prepare ahead of the commencement of the season.
The three-club tournament is expected to climax on March 8 and comprises Everest Cricket Club, Taysec Titans and Kyebi Leopards.
Put together by renowned cricket enthusiast Samuel Nana Ekow Biney(SNEB) Asamoah and sponsored by food company PhosFoods, the competition will have a trophy at stake for the winner.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr SNEB Asamoah of the Nsromma Cricket Academy noted that the competition would prepare the teams for the upcoming season and also identify new talents.
Hunting for talents
“This tournament is unique in the sense that while we look to hunt talents for the national cause, we are also preparing these teams who are full of youthful players for future task,” he stated.
He appealed to corporate bodies to support cricket and aid the state to grow and develop the sport from the grassroots.
The manager of Phos Foods, Joshua Budu, expressed his outfit’s desire to support the growth and development of cricket in the country.
