An Nkawie High Court in the Ashanti Region has remanded seven Accra Hearts of Oak fans in police custody for damaging plastic chairs during the club’s return leg friendly against rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.
The suspects, who were denied bail, were arrested by the police after they were caught ripped off the stadium chairs in protest against what they claimed to be unfair officiating during the game.
At last Tuesday’s hearing, the prosecutor pleaded with the court for more time to study the docket since the case was only transferred to them the same day.
The prosecutor’s plea was granted but the judge asked that the suspects be remanded in police custody to reappear on Friday.
The accused persons are standing trial on three counts of causing damages, conspiracy and assault.
