Women’s Special Competition Quarter-finals: Sea Lions thump Halifax 2-0

Tema-based Halifax Ladies were on Wednesday defeated 2-0 by Sea Lions in the second leg of their quarter-final game of the Women's Special Competition played at the Tema Community 8 Park.

Two goals by Owusua Elizabeth and Theresa Ackon Cobbina in the 8th and 42nd minutes respectively ensured that Sea Lions recorded an important away victory to boost their chances of progressing to the semi-finals of the competition.

The two sides played goalless in the first leg on Sunday, March 31, at the Nduom Stadium with Halifax hoping to pick a win at home in the return leg, but their hopes were shattered as the visitors recorded two goals in each half to progress.

In Sunyani, Prisons Ladies thumped Fabulous Ladies 2-1 thanks to goals scored by Agnes Aduako in the 26th minute and Rita Okyere in the 57th minute. Helena Obeng scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 84th minute.

At the Prempeh College Park, Kumasi Sports Academy played goalless with Ampem Darkoa in a match which saw Black Princesses star Grace Asantewa emerged as the Most Valuable Player.

The match between Hasaacas Ladies and Police has been scheduled for Thursday, April 4.
