WAFU Tourney: Black Queens secure semi-final berth after thrashing Togo

The national senior women's football team, Black Queens have qualified to the semi-finals of the 2019 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Tournament after thrashing Togo 6-0 in their second group game at the Stade de Parc des Sports in Abdjan on Friday.

Northern Ladies forward Abdulai Mukarama opened the score line on the 45th minute to bring her tally to two in the competition.

From recess, the Ghanaians continued pushing for more goals as Fabulous Ladies forward Alice Kusi grabbed a brace on the 53rd and 65th minutes respectively while Grace Asantewaa added another goal on the 70th minute to give Ghana 4-0 lead.

Mavis Owusu capped off a sterling performance with a brace on the 77th and 85th minute respectively and she was crowned the Woman of The Match at the end of the game.

Ghana will play host nation Cote d’Ivoire in the final group game on Monday, May 13, in a battle for the top spot.

The Queens won the maiden edition of the tournament in 2018 and are hoping to retain the title.
