Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Game Week (GW) three is almost here, with the first game of the week kicking off this evening between newly promoted Aston Villa and Everton.
With a quite a number of attractive looking fixtures coming up, managers would have some big decisions to make before today's deadline and that includes whom to place the armband on in hopes of amassing a lot of points this week.
The FPL captain pick has always been one of the toughest decisions for FPL managers and ahead of today's 6 p.m. deadline, the Graphic Sports team after a thorough deliberation has provided four captaincy options FPL managers could consider when choosing whom to place the armband on.
1. Liverpool’s front three vs Arsenal (H)
There’s no doubt that this mammoth clash is full of goals. The last meetings between Liverpool and Arsenal have seen Liverpool win four, draw two and score 20 times – that’s an average of 3.33 goals per game. The Red’s attackers Sadio Mane (£11.5m), Mo Salah (£12.5m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) who have all found the back of the net this season hold exciting records against the Gunners as they have all never failed to find the back of the net against Arsenal at home in the Premier League since they joined the Reds. Firmino has played four times against Arsenal at home and scored seven. Mane on the other hand has played three times and scored thrice, while Salah who joined two seasons ago has registered two goals in two outings for Liverpool against Arsenal at home. This impressive goal scoring record makes any of Jürgen Klopp’s prefered front three the perfect captain ahead of GW3.
2. Kevin De Bruyne (£9.6m) vs Bournemouth (A)
Following a disappointing 2018/2019 season which saw De Bruyne register just two goals and two assists in 19 appearances largely as a result of injuries, the Belgian is back to full fitness and has set the tone for what to expect this season following an excellent display against Spurs. The Man City midfielder has rewarded his FPL managers who kept faith in him with three assists in two games with two of them coming against Spurs last weekend. With three assists in two games, De Bruyne has established himself as an excellent FPL captain pick ahead of their game against Bournemouth in GW3.
3. Harry Kane (£11.0m) vs Newcastle (H)
The Tottenham Hotspur arrowhead endured a quiet and frustrating GW2 after he failed to register a shot on goal against Manchester City in their 2-2 draw last weekend. Already finding the net twice this season against Aston Villa in GW1, the England captain could be a perfect FPL captain ahead of GW3 looking at how badly this Newcastle team have started this Premier League campaign. The Newcastle team have conceded four goals already this season with newly promoted Norwich City’s frontman and current league top scorer Teemu Pukki (£6.7m) scoring a hat-trick against them. Tottenham will also be hoping to brush aside the Magpies at home and two-time Premier League golden boot winner, Harry kane, will look to get a few goals against Newcastle.
4. Teemu Pukki (£6.7m) vs Chelsea (H)
Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki couldn’t have dreamt of a better start to Premier League life than becoming the Premier League’s top scorer after GW2.
Pukki announced himself in the country’s topflight league after he scored his first Premier League goal in a 4–1 away loss to Liverpool on the opening day of the new season. Pukki became a target for FPL managers after he scored his first Premier League hat-trick in a 3–1 victory over Newcastle eight days later becoming Norwich’s first hat-trick in the Premier League since Efan Ekoku against Everton in September 1993. With this outstanding form, Pukki could be considered by FPL managers as an excellent captain option against Chelsea in GW3.
Kaakyire leading Graphic Sports Fantasy League
Kaakyire Amponsah is still the leader in the Graphic Sports FPL after GW2.
Amponsah’s “Kaakyire FC”, despite garnering a disappointing 43 points in GW2, still managed to retain the spot as the leader of Graphic Sports FPL.
Amponsah who has a total of 153 points after GW2 captained Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling (£12.2) and the in-form attacker rewarded him with 12 points.
Kaakyire FC is followed closely by FC Omnipotent (Othneal Dotse) who climbed to second on the Graphic Sports FPL log with 62 points in GW2 and a total of 152 points. Botos Boys FC, owned by Robert Ofori Mintah, is third on the log after also experiencing a disappointing GW2 with 41 points and a total of 151 points after GW2. The competition for the top spot and chance to win amazing prizes from the Graphic Sports team looks fierce already as the top three managers in the Graphic Sports FPL log are breathing heavily on each other’s neck.
