Ghana’s Black Queens have been drawn alongside the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the 2019 West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone ‘B’ women’s Cup of Nations to be held in Cote D’Ivoire in May.
The senior national female team are the defending champions of the competition. Ghanaians would expect Coach Bashiru Hayford’s team to bounce back strongly and retain the title to compensate for their disappointing performance in the 2018 Women’s AFCON hosted in Ghana when they exited at the group stage.
In the last edition, the Black Queens defeated the hosts Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in the final to clinch the maiden edition of the tournament.
Ghana will have to battle tough oppositions like the winners of 2018 Women’s AFCON, Nigeria, Guinea and Mali while host nation Cote d’Ivoire are paired with Benin, Niger and Senegal in Group A.
The dates and venues for the various games is expected to be announced at a later date.
