Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, Fatawu Safiu, scored his sixth goal of the Special Cup competition to help his side beat Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.

The player produced a brilliant panenka from the penalty spot after he had chipped the ball to beat the Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper Gideon Ahenkorah.

Kotoko, thus, maintain their lead on the league log with 13 points as the first round of the competition draws to a close.

Emmanuel Gyamfi put the host in front in the 51st minute after he connected from Jordan Opoku’s cross.

Gyamfi could have increased the tally four minutes later following a one-on-one with goalkeeper Ahenkorah, but his effort narrowly missed the far post.

Relieve came finally for the scanty fans in the stadium when the Porcupine Warriors doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Fatawu chipped the ball down the middle after goalkeeper, Ahenkorah was wrong footed.
