Leadership of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has sent a goodwill message to the Black Stars ahead of their opening fixture against Benin in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt today.
The Ghanaians will take on the Squirrels of Benin at the Ismailia Stadium at 8 pm in an encounter which many have tipped the Black Stars to live up to expectation.
A statement on the PFAG website read: “The PFAG is urging the Black Stars to go all out and shine at the ongoing AFCON in Egypt. We believe in the capabilities of the players, technical team and the management to end the 37-year drought.”
The statement continued: “To the players, we are with you and for you! You are our heroes and we expect you to churn out a good performance. Good luck.”
Cameroun will play Guinea Bissau today at the same venue in the other Group F fixture ahead of the Ghana versus Benin encounter.
The Ghanaians will play their next fixture against Cameroun on Tuesday, June 29 and wrap up their Group F campaign with a match against Guinea Bissau on Saturday, July 2.
