Performance of Ghanaian players abroad

Some European based Ghanaian players played influential roles for their various clubs as the league returned from international break over the weekend.

Notable among them was left-full back, Kwadwo Asamoah who played the full throttle for his club in their 3-0 win against Frosinone.

Majeed Waris came from the bench to score on the stroke of full time to help rescue a point for his side, Nantes during their 1-1 drawn against Angers.

ENGLAND

In the English Premier league, Ghanaian teammates Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp were both introduced from the bench to help during Crystal Palace’s game against Manchester United which ended goalless draw at the old Trafford.

Championship

Albert Adomah saw 65 minutes of action during Aston Villa’s 4-2 win over Birmingham City while Andy Yiadom warmed the bench for Reading during their goalless draw game against Wigan Athletic.  

SPAIN

Coach Diego Simeone kept Thomas Partey on the bench as his team Atletico held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw game.

Emmanuel Boateng was once against enterprising for Lavente as he came of the bench in the 69th minutes to provide the match needed equaliser in his team’s 2-2 draw against SD Huesca. Raphael Dwamena was an unused substitute for his side.

 Mubarak Wakaso was an unused substitute in Lavente’s away game against Laganes. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Laganese.

Segunda Division

Isaac Cofie was on the score sheet for Sporting Gijon as they beat Granada 2-1. Richard Boateng was introduced in the 76th minute to helped Real Oviedo in their 3-0 win against Reus. Yaw Yeboah played entire duration for Numancia in their 0-1 loss to Mallorca.

ITALY

Nicholas Opoku was an unused substitute in Udinese 1-0 win against AS Roma, while Afriyie Acquah came in as a substitute in the 85th minute and helped Empoli beat Atalanta 3-2.

Alfred Duncan play 78 minutes while Kevin Prince Boateng was substituted after 60 minutes during their 1-2 loss to Parma. Emmanuel Besea was an unused substitute.

FRANCE

Ligue 1

Majeed Warris came on in the 74th minute and provided the match needed equaliser as his team Nantes drew 1-1 against Angers.

GERMANY

Kasim Nuhu remained on the bench for TSG Hoffenheim as they drew 3-3 against Hertha BSC, but Baba Rahman failed to make the squad for Schalke 04 as they won 5-2 against FC Numberg.

BELGIUM

In the Belgium league, Nana Opoku Ampomah played full time for Waasland-Beveren in their 1-2 loss to Royal Excel Mouscron. Joseph Aidoo lasted the entire duration and provided an assist for KRC Genk as they lost 1-2 against Cercle Brugge.  Eric Ocansey last 62 minutes for Eupen as they lost 0-3 to Standard Liege but his teammate Abdul Manaf Nurudeen could not make the final squad.

Bernard Kumordzi lasted the entire duration for Kortrijk as they won 2-1 against Oostende, Likewise Nana Kwesi Asare who lasted full time for Gent against Daniel Opare and William Owusu’s  Royal Antwerp. Opare played the full duration, while Owusu was introduced in the 72nd minute in goalless drawn game.

Samuel Asamoah started and lasted the entire duration for St.Truiden in their 4-2 victory against RSC Anderlecht.

TURKEY

Isaac Sackey played full time for Alanyaspor as his side beat Asamoah Gyan and Bernard Mensah’s Kayserispor 5-0. Mensah was introduced in the 75th minute while Gyan was not part of the team.

Andrew Ayew saw 90 minutes of action although Fenerbache lost 1-2 to Trabzonspor, while Caleb Ekuban was introduced from the bench for Trabzonspor.

Minuru Sulley was a bench warmer for Yeni Malatyaspor as they were beaten 0-3 by  Kasimpasa.
