Ghana’s Thomas Partey could be in the starting line-up for Atletico Madrid when they welcome Juventus to the Wanda Metropolitano for their Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
The Spanish outfit would welcome the Italian giants for the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Spanish capital of the Champions League and the Ghanaian is expected to play a part in that encounter.
The 25-year-old midfielder has made 20 appearances for the Spanish side this season scoring just 2 goals while he has made five Champions League appearances.
Partey who would be searching for his sixth Champions League appearance this season, could play in the midfield alongside, Koke, Saul Niguez and Rodrigo Hernández as Diego Simeone’s side aim to get a favourable result against the Italian giants.
In the last five seasons, Atletico have reached the final of the Champions League twice when they lost to their city rivals, Real Madrid in both 2014 and 2016.
It is reported that Lucas Hernandez is likely to miss out due to a knee injury, however, Koke who trained ahead of the match was likely to be named in the starting XI.
Former Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata is also likely to start, and could be paired with Antoine Griezmann to lead the attack. Griezmann who has been prolific for the Spanish side has already scored 10 goals in his last 11 appearances and he is expected to be the biggest threat to the Italians.
Other options available for Coach Simeone are Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa and Vitolo are, but it seems likely that Koke, Rodri Hernandez, Thomas Partey and Saul Niguez will start in a relatively narrow midfield.
