Supporters of Asante Kotoko have been urged to rally behind the management of the club to help address the numerous challenges confronting the club.
A veteran football administrator, Nana Yaw Owusu Akwanuasah, who made the call during an interview with the Daily Graphic, expressed concern about the spate of dichotomy among the fans of the club which could undermine the forward match of Kotoko if the trend continued.
“The numerous supporters of Kotoko should rally behind management at this point to help them focus on addressing the challenges threatening the progress of Kotoko. If management has committed an error, it should be encouraged to correct it but not to pile intense pressure on it,” Nana Akwanuasah advised.
Referring to some insinuations being cast by some fans on radio, social media and other media platforms that seek to threaten the position of Dr Kyei in particular, Nana Akwanuasah said such acts were likely to create divisions in the club at a time all the supporters should join hands to address the challenges confronting them.
“A football club with a large number of supporters such as Kotoko is bound to have one conflict or the other, but it depends on how they tackle the challenges that come up. It is, therefore, important for the supporters to rally behind management at this time to create a serene working environment for management to run the club well,” he stressed.
Nana Akwanuasah urged the supporters to rather channel their resources to help the players to stay fit at a period the country is saddled with the COVID-19 pandemic to enable them to compete favourably in the Ghana Premier League when the ban on social gathering is eventually lifted.
