Ashantigold skipper, Shafiu Mumuni, has called on his team-mates to work extra hard if they are to stand a chance of making an impact at next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Mumuni, who led the Miners to win the GFA Normalisation Committee’s Tier Two Special Competition, said their preparations towards their continental campaign would be crucial in ensuring they have a successful campaign.
The Obuasi-based side secured qualification to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Nzema Kotoko 1-0 to win the just ended Special Competition.
The 24-year-old forward told the Graphic Sports in an interview that he was aware of the intensity of the continental competition but was hopeful Ashantigold could meet the demands.
Mumuni explained that the desire by every player to compete at the continental stage would propel them to succeed in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“It is going to be tough for us at the continental competition but I believe with extra work we can make a significant impact during our campaign. As you know, preparation will be very key when participating in such competitions and it will decide if we can make any significant impact,” he said.
Ashantigold will be returning to Africa for the first time in four years since participating in the CAF Champions League with a first round exit.
The Miners must improve their squad with new additions ahead of the continental campaign, which will enhance their chances of making a good impression.
