Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has been made to react to Pitso Mosimane’s loud claims that Amakhosi enjoy refereeing favours.
Mosimane’s edgy outcries of referees helping Chiefs to the top of the league dominated the media last week. The two coaches then met on Sunday where Amakhosi grabbed a 2-0 win in Pretoria.
Speaking in a post-match conference, Middendorp essentially begged for the discussion to end.
“Really guys, are we going to discuss whether it is a penalty or not?” Middendorp said via Soccer Laduma.
“Are we talking about the situation where there could have been a hand? What the hell are we doing? Let it go.”
“Tomorrow it is your advantage, today it is my advantage. I have seen on Wednesday (when Sundowns faced Highlands Park) a situation where I think there should have been a penalty, should we discuss each and every action?”
“The referee indicated it was a goal and that’s it. We are addressing this to the wrong people. Referees are administrators and teachers and if you want a better response – address it to the PSL and SAFA. Don’t follow these guys who repeat it again and again,” the German coach concluded.
Chiefs next take on Orlando Pirates this weekend. Amakhosi will host the Buccaneers in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final games in Durban on Saturday.
