Romelu Lukaku scored his third consecutive Manchester United brace in the dramatic victory over PSG, a feat last achieved by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Belgian struck twice as the Red Devils recorded a 3-1 win at Parc des Princes, progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals via the away goals rule.

Trailing 2-0 from the first leg and suffering from a number of injuries and suspensions, United sealed a remarkable comeback with Marcus Rashford's controversial late penalty.

Ronaldo's run came 13 years ago when the Portuguese scored two in United's 3-0 win at Aston Villa.

Another brace followed in the 3-1 home win over Wigan on Boxing Day 2006, and the forward made it three in a row in a 3-2 home victory against Reading.

The Ballon d'Or winner failed to score next time out in a 2-2 draw at Newcastle.

Lukaku's hot streak started when he scored United's first two goals in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on February 27.

The 25-year-old followed up with another brace in the Red Devils' 3-2 comeback win against Southampton.

Lukaku levelled up with Ronaldo on Wednesday night, rounding PSG keeper Gigi Buffon to open the scoring on just two minutes.

The striker restored United's lead before half time when he capitalised on a Buffon handling error.

Lukaku will head into Sunday's trip to Arsenal looking to surpass Ronaldo, having scored nine goals since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's arrival as United boss.
