The much anticipated J.A. Kufuor Cup match between regional rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold at the Baba Yara Stadium has been postponed to December 30, 2018.
This has become necessary as the former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, was expected to be out of the country during the previously announced date of December 2, 2018.
It is the third time the game has been rescheduled after Accra Hearts of Oak who were expected to play the Porcupine Warriors on October 28 pulled out of competition scheduled to raise funds for the JAK foundation.
The director of communications for Asante Kotoko, Samuel Sarfo Duku, who confirmed the postponement, disclosed also that the Porcupine Warriors’ continental club engagement was factored into selecting the new date.
“The organisers also factored in Asante Kotoko’s Africa Cup preparations,," Sarfo Duku to Asantekotokosc.com
The JAK Cup was instituted to commemorate the 80th birthday of Ghana’s second president of the fourth Republic and it is, therefore, appropriate that the game is been played in his presence, according to a Kotoko statement.
Primeval Media, the organisers of the match says the proceeds of the charity match will go to the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation for the developments and leadership projects under the foundation.
