Black Stars midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, has become the toast of the Italian media following his stellar performance in his debut game for the Nerazzurri.

The 29-year-old was highly praised by Italian national sports paper, Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday for his versatility, combativeness and his ability to have settled in to his new club effortlessly.

Despite the Nerazzurri’s loss to Sassuolo in their opening game on Sunday, the Ghanaian was regarded as the club’s best performer on the day with his presence felt in the game.

The newspaper described the player as “Secure, combative, concentrated throughout and, most of all, versatile, a quality that Luciano Spalletti likes the majority of his players to have. “Asamoah has already made his presence felt, but the Inter side that turned up in Reggio Emilia was well off the pace.

“It was him that drew the contact which should have been punished with a penalty at the end of the first half, when [Francesco] Magnanelli clattered into him – an incident that could have changed the complexion of the match, perhaps woken Inter from their semi-slumber while Sassuolo were moving twice as fast.

“Asamoah had spoken about being ruthless and hungry before Sunday’s match but he was the only one to display those qualities. He’s settled in at Inter immediately.” the Rome-based publication wrote.

The attacking midfielder played for Juventus for six season from 2012, when he joined in from Udinese. His  energy, versatility, and technical skills, saw him play a key role in helping the Old Lady of Italian football win six consecutive Serie A titles between 2013 and 2018.

He, however, opted out of extending his contract when it expired last May, choosing to join Inter Milan instead.

The 29-year-old has also been invited to the national team, the Black Stars, for their build up towards their 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier away to Kenya on September 8.

He has not played for the Stars in almost four years, mainly due to injuries.
