Accra Hearts of Oak on Monday started training on their new Pobiman pitch after using the Legon pitch as their training grounds for some time now.

The Ghana Premier League club, which was formed in 1911, had adopted various pitches as their training ground with the Pobiman project on the drawing board for over a decade.

However, Hearts' board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, promised to ensure the club completed the pitch to enable players a better training facility.

On Sunday Hearts CEO, Mark Noonan, in a tweet admitted the state of the pitch was not the best but was good enough for a start, but gave the clearest indication it would be their new training grounds into the future.

"Re: Pobiman lots of critics. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Is the pitch perfect? No (but it is better than current state). Are the grounds pristine? Not yet This is the beginning. We will make this home. Why rent when you can build? ," Noonan wrote on his Twitter page.

Players such as Malik Akowuah, Patrick Razak, Joseph Esso andKojo Obeng were among a host of players who took part in training at Pobiman on Monday.

Also present at the training grounds was American Noonan.

The Phobians are expected to take delivery of other modern equipment from Turkey later in the year to be installed at the training facility to bring it up to modern standards.
