Ghana left-back, Baba Rahman, could soon return to the English Premier League after he became a surprise target for most English clubs.
Reports indicate that several English clubs have sent out scouts to watch the 24-year-old who is gradually returning to top form after injury nearly ruined his career in 2017.
It was reported that in 2017 Christian Atsu recommended to his manager, Rafa Benitez, to price the £14 million-rated Chelsea player to the Tyneside which prompted the Newcastle boss to target the defender.
But the manager abandoned that dream due to the recurrent injury however Rahman’s current form appears to have whet the appetite of the Benitez who may consider looking for a new left-back to provide competition for Magpies stalwart Paul Dummett.
Rahman, who signed for Chelsea for £14million from Augsburg in 2015 made just 23 appearances before being shipped on loan to Schalke.
Unfortunately, he was ruled out for almost a year after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in 2017 while on international duty with the Black Stars.
Subsequently, his career took a nose dive until recently when Rahman worked hard to get back his fitness and has since been rediscovering his form and has impressed at Reims in France since securing a loan deal.
Rahman whose contract with the London club expires in 2020 could again find himself in another Premier League side with reports indicating that a number of clubs are sending scouts to watch him in his recent games.
Rahman is considered to be an attack-minded player which would be ideal for several English sides that are looking for cover at the full-back and new options for that position this summer.
