Former Aduana Stars coach, Yusif Abubakar is reported dead on Tuesday morning after a short illness.
According to family sources, the Coach who was supposed to take charge of the national Under-23 side had been battling with some health issues until his demise.
The 56-year old ex-Heart of Lions trainer was due to commence camping for the Black Meteors games against Togo next month for the Africa Under-23 championship qualifier and Coach Michael Osei who was expected to deputise for the deceased coach also confirmed the demise to the Graphic Sports Online.
Coach Michael Osei, who was shocked by the sudden demise of his boss, said upon enquiry, he was told by the deceased coach’s brother that the ex-Medeama SC gaffer had passed away.
Coach Abubakar was regarded as one of Ghana’s finest coaches having worked with several local clubs including Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC and Aduana Stars.
While at the Dormaa-Ahenkro-based club, Coach Abubakar was credited for helping in the total transformation of the side which resulted in their winning the 2016/2017 league and he subsequently guided them to the group stages of the 2017/2018 Africa Confederation Cup .
