Kumasi Asante Kotoko trio defender Amos Frimpong, goalkeeper Felix Annan and midfielder Kwame Bonsu have been handed a call up by Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah ahead of their final AFCON qualifier against Kenya at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 23.
The trio have been in fine form for the Porcupine Warriors in their CAF Confederations Cup campaign and their exploits have caught the attention of the Stars' technical handlers.
Felix Annan, who has been in top form for Asante Kotoko will have to battle it out for the first choice with Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori who has been the safest pair of hands for the Black Stars for some time now.
Kwame Bonsu, who is making a debut for Stars, has been solid and impressive in midfield for Kotoko throughout their CAF campaign.
His coordination with Richard Senanu and Umar Bashir in midfield has been spot on but he faces a challenge from in-form Thomas Partey, Mubarak Wakaso and Afriyie Acquah in midfield for a starting berth.
Skipper Amos Frimpong is also in line to make his debut for the senior national team and his versatility can earn him a place either on the right or left side of defense as the Stars seek to wrap-up their qualification in group F.
Ghanaians have already qualified for the 2019 AFCON but this game will offer the players an opportunity to redeem their image after suffering a 1-0 defeat to the Kenyans last year.
The Black Stars are second on the Group F table with six points, one point behind leaders Kenya. A win at home will see them lead the table.
