National Women's League (NWL) champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies have held Black Queens to a 1-1 draw in their friendly game played at the Ohene Ameyaw Park at Techiman on Monday.
The match, which was to have been played on Sunday, was rescheduled due to rains.
The Queens took the lead through Jane Ayieyam, but Fatima Adjei equalised for the league champions much to the delight of the fans who showed up to watch the game.
The next game for the Queens will be against Prisons Ladies at the same venue on Tuesday after which the team will continue to Tamale to complete their tour of the northern zone of Ghana as part of their preparations towards the 2018 Women's Africa Cup of Nations Ghana will be hosting from November 17 to December 1.
The tour which is part of the Queens' training and preparations toward the Women's AFCON, saw the them spend three days in Kumasi during which they played two matches against Kumasi Sports Academy who they beat 4-0 and also recorded a 2-0 win against a select Ashanti Region side.
The tour of the regions is to give the team a change of environment after spending nearly six weeks at the Prampram Centre of Soccer Excellence as well as endear the Queens to fans. It is also to create awareness about the impending competition.
According to Coach Bashir Hayford, travelling around the country to play such trial matches is also a good exercise for his team as the players.
"Staying a one place could be boring and tiring so the purpose of the tour is not just to get good sides to play against as part of our build up, but it is also to give the players a change of environment which is good for the psychic of the players."
