Aduana Stars are set to unleash their prolific striker and current leading scorer of the local league, Yahaya Mohammed, on Accra Hearts of Oak as they headline this weekend Premier League fixtures at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park tomorrow.
Mohammed, who is on eight goals so far, has scored in every game at Dormaa-Ahenkro this season and will be looking forward to adding Hearts of Oak to his list of casualties as their home turf has become a no-go area for visiting clubs.
Despite playing some scintillating football this season, the ‘Ogya boy’ will be going into this game with a punctured ego following their 1-3 defeat to Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Stadium during their midweek fixtures.
For Hearts of Oak, who were held to a goalless draw by Ashgold last Thursday, this could be a fine opportunity to bounce back and halt the home invincibility of Aduana Stars who currently occupy the second position on the league log with 16 points.
History between two sides
History between the two sides favour the Rainbow club who have won five times in the 16 games played in the top flight with the host winning just three. Besides Hearts of Oak are not strangers to winning at Dormaa-Ahenkro having won two of the eight fixtures there.
This season, although Hearts of Oak have been inconsistent in their games, they have acquitted themselves as a stronger side playing away from home which has accounted for two victories in four away games.
Based on their current form, however, Hearts could be the underdogs and playing against a ruthless Aduana side that beat Inter Allies 4-0 in their opening campaign to the season could be terrifying for Coach Edward Odooms boys.
Since 2014, when Hearts of Oak last won 1-0 at Dormaa-Ahenkro, the Nana Agyemang Badu Park has been a difficult terrain with their best result being a 1-1 draw in 2016.
Indeed, if Hearts want to rewrite the script, then Coach Odoom will have to dig deep into his tactical acumen in order to unlock the solid defensive wall of the host whose prolific striker, Mohammed, is also eager to prey on Hearts.
Coach W.O Paul Tandoh, who is aware of the pedigree of the 20-time champions, will be aiming at consolidating their gains and climbing to the summit of the league log with a convincing victory with the hope that leaders, Berekum Chelsea falls when they encounter Elmina Sharks at the Dr Nduom Sports Complex.
In other matches, Bechem United welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Dreams FC will be hoping to embark on a giant killing feat when they entertain Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Theatre of Dreams and Accra Great Olympics will hope to continue their winning ways when they welcome Eleven Wonders to the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ninth-place Liberty Professionals will travel to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium to pit strength against Ashgold and the Akoon Park in Tarkwa is where Karela United is determined to crash Medeama SC.
Meanwhile later today, bottom-place King Faisal will take on West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) at the Baba Yara Stadium, while Inter Allies and Legon Cities battle at the Accra Sports Stadium.
