Promoter of Ghana's Richard Commey, Lou DiBella, is considering a possible unification bout against WBA and WBO champion, Vasyl Lomachenko, should the Ghanaian defeat Isa Chaniev of Russia in their IBF World lightweight championship fight at the Ford Centre in Texas on February 2.
DiBella, the Chief Executive Officer of DiBella Entertainment, a promotional outfit based in New York, believes Commey (27-2, 24 KOs) would defeat Chaniev in his second world title bow.
The New York-based promoter said he expects the Ghanaian to prove to the world that he is on top of the lightweight division by putting up a splendid performance against the Russian on Februray 2.
Commey will be hoping to be victorious in his second attempt at the IBF crown when he comes up against Chaniev (13-1, 6 KOs) after losing out to America's Robert Easter Jr in 2016 through a controversial split decision.
Speaking to boxingscene.com, DiBella said “I fully expect Richard Commey to come through his fight with Isa Chaniev and look good in doing it".
“Commey is a fantastic fighter who will really look to show off he is right at the top of the lightweight division.
“We are not looking past the job on February 2, but when Richard becomes IBF World Champion, we want Lomachenko next. Richard will cause Lomachenko problems he has never seen before and I’m backing my man to cause an upset," he added.
