Ghana's IBF World lightweight contender, Richard Commey, says he is confident of putting up the best display of his career against Russia's Isa Chaniev on February 2 to realise his ambition of ruling the world.
Commey (27-2, 24 KOs) believed he was working tireless to annex the vacant IBF World Lightweight title in devastating fashion when he locks horn with Chaniev (13-1, 6 KOs) in Frisco, Texas.
The Ghanaian pugilist has pitched camp with trainer Andre Rozier in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn and said he was enjoying training with other great boxers such as Danny Jacobs, Chris Algieri, Curtis Stevens, Duke Micah and Sadam Ali among others.
Speaking to Nytfight.com, Commey said “Anyone who knows boxing knows I am always in entertaining and explosive fights".
“I am getting better every day with Andre Rozier and the team and I’m confident in putting on the best display of my career and winning the IBF World Lightweight title in devastating fashion.
“Training is fantastic. I am never out of the gym anyway, but I am really enjoying training alongside the likes of Danny Jacobs, Chris Algieri, Curtis Stevens, Duke Micah, Sadam Ali and many others.
“It’s a dream to train under the guidance of Andre Rozier and his team and I’m very grateful for the opportunity," he added.
Commey was full of praise of his trainer Andre Rozier and stated that the experienced coach has made him a complete fighter ahead of his second World championship bout.
“Working alongside these fighters and under the guidance of an excellent trainer has helped me become a more complete fighter and I will show that on February 2.”
Commey, under the managerial guidance of Michael Amoo-Bediako Snr, has been regarded by many as a World Champion in the making having lost a controversial split decision to Robert Easter Jr in 2016 during his maiden shot at the title.
The Ghanaian have teamed up with renowned promoter, Lou DiBella who together with his manager are looking forward to making him one of the best punchers in the lightweight division.
“My manager Michael Amoo-Bediako Snr and promoter Lou DiBella have worked tirelessly to get me this opportunity and I cannot thank them enough.
“Michael has created a great team around me that allows me to be the best fighter I can be and you will see that in Texas on February 2," Commey said.
Commey is looking forward to making it three wins from as many bouts under the guidance of Adre Rozier but must get past tough Russian fighter Isa Chaniev, who has looked excellent in his 14 professional contests.
