The skipper of Ashantigold Sporting Club, Shafiu Mumuni, says he is now ready to join any local or foreign club provided the deal is good enough to lure him away from the Miners.
Mumuni scored nine goals for the Miners this season and also guided them to win the GFA Normalisation Committee Special Competition Tier 2 Cup after a splendid season in the Tier 1 Cup which saw them topping Group A.
Though the Obuasi-based club has qualified to play in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup competition in the 2019/2020 season, the striker says he will welcome any move away from the club.
“I am ready for any club in Ghana or abroad. I am a player who wants new challenges every now and then, so I will not decline a good move away from Ashgold,” he told Graphic Sports newspaper in an interview."
The 24-year-old has been linked with Asante Kotoko for the second time this season to boost their squad for their CAF Champions League after a previous deal failed to materialise.
“Yes, Kotoko wanted me but things did not work out well. For me, I am not waiting for them (Kotoko) alone. If Accra Hearts of Oak shows interest and everything goes on well, I will join them. Hearts is a big club and it will be a delight to play for them too,” he stressed.
However, Shafiu, who has been part of Black Stars B in recent times, emphasised that he was not anxious to quit his current club as he was ready to help them make exploits on the continent.
“Ashgold is my team and I am not forcing my way out. We have qualified to play in Africa and I want to help them reach far in the competition,” he added.
