Last week, I recounted the ordeal I had to endure when I travelled to Lagos by road through Togo and Benin. Today, I want to share other experiences I gathered from the journey. It is not for nothing that there is a saying that “when you sit at one place, you sit on something and that travel and see”. There were many lessons that I learnt and so despite the fact that travelling along the Aflao-Lome-Cotonou-Lagos stretch of the road could be tortuous, I would not be bothered to travel by road another time to observe for myself whether we are ready for integration or keeping to our national sovereignty.
Many years ago, Nigerians used to mock at us for having a currency that was low in value. I was thus astonished to realise that the cedi is an international convertible currency along the borders and within Nigeria. I saw Nigerians exchanging the Nai
