Stand up against gay lobby - Ashigbey

The writer - Mr Kenneth AshigbeyLet’s protect Ghana from the rich and powerful gay and homosexual lobby. We should be careful of the rich and powerful homosexual and gay lobbyists who want to affect our society. Whoever they are, we should, like Christ said to Peter who He made the head of His Church, say to them “get behind me satan”.

They want to affect and influence our rich traditional and cultural heritage with this dastardly act, something even animals will not do. It is a sin and should be criminalised.

In my view, we should all stand up to protect our leaders against these pressures from the western world to adulterate our rich culture and values.

We are prepared for the sacrifice, if we do not stand up in defence, our leaders might give in under external pressure. But let us remind our leaders that if they give in to their pressures we will mobilise two million people into the major streets of Ghana, from Paga to Axim, to Aflao to express our opposition. I am certain that that multi party, multi religious and multi ethnic march to demonstrate that “we no go sit down make them cheat us of our rights," would work. For this they should take their aid and we will keep our dignity.

Majority of Ghanaians will, like Christ, not condemn those who have found themselves in this unfortunate sickness, but we will tell them to go and SIN NO MORE. We will pray for them to change and we will apply every rule in our statute books to purge them of this abomination.

The practice of homosexuality and lesbianism is not genetic, neither is it natural. Even if those involved are born with the urge to do it, just as people who are born with diseases are treated and cured, we have to help them to mend their ways. It is an act that threatens the very existence of man. Can you imagine if majority of mankind decide to go that way, what will happen to us on earth?. Come to think of it we will be wiped out.

In some jurisdictions they want to be given the right to adopt, but the question is, who should do the hard work for them to adopt while they engage in the unnatural frolic.

Just as they want to have rights which they do not deserve, we equally deserve the right to protect our children from thinking that homosexuals is an alternate way to live. It is not.

How do we treat a mother and son, or a father and daughter or a brother and sister who in the privacy of their room agree to have sex. Yes, we will say it is wrong, it is incest and rightly so. We will want them arrested. We will not say that it is their sexual preference.  That is why we have every right to effect the arrest of those who engage in this abominable act of homosexuality.

But brethren, just as we cannot take the law into our hands and visit mob justice on thieves and serial killers, we cannot not be prosecutors, judges and jury over lesbians and gays. The law must work. This is where I agree with Nana Oye Lithur that we need to protect their rights just like the rights of any criminal until they are proven guilty.

Please we should all lobby our law makers to enact new legislation, review the law on unnatural canal knowledge to make it explicit that homosexuality, lesbianism, sodomy, gayism are all offences under our laws.

I am calling on the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Christian Council of Ghana, Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Chief Imam, the Head of the Ahmadis and the traditional leaders to come together to lobby for a legislation on homosexuality. Ghanaians are almost unanimous over this issue; we abhor the practice. Any politician who stands in our way will not be voted for in the next elections.

This is our country and we should protect it. Advocates of a ban on homosexuality are not saints but because we know we are sinners who are saved by grace ad this is why we have to and want to flee from temptation.

This is one temptation we should avoid at all cost.
