While his passion for Computer Science may have led him to start his own business (Vokacom), his commitment to keep striving for the best is what had pushed him to the top, making his business emerge as the Software Company of the Year at the 2018 edition of the Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA), which was held recently in Accra.

It was at this same event that he was also adjudged the Young ICT Entrepreneur of the Year in recognition of his cutting-edge technology in the IT space.

Nana Osei is the Chief Executive Officer of Vokacom Limited, a private Ghanaian technology company, powering the National Digital Property Addressing system, also known as the Ghana Post GPS.

The Mirror had an interaction with the Young ICT Entrepreneur after the launch of the mega promotion between Graphic Communications Group Limited and Devtraco Limited to reward loyal readers.

Another of Vokacom’s areas of expertise is SMS and promotions which is at the fore of this mega promotion.

In addition. Vokacom will ensure that prizes for winners will be sent to them at their given digital addresses.

Explaining the brain behind the National Digital Property Addressing system, Nana Osei said the Ghana Post GPS app was designed by Vokacom to generate a unique code for every property or location in the country.

“A national address registry embedded in the system enables individuals to use their home and business addresses for easy direction and identification purposes,” he explained.

This address system is gradually catching on as people can now sit in the comfort of their homes and use their mobile phones to access their digital address for documentation and business transactions.

Need for digital address system

According to Mr Afrifa, in 2015 he and his management team realised that members of their staff usually had issues raising rent advance. This brought about the need to support them.

“Sometimes, they even borrowed for their friends and relations. With this, we decided to take it up as a business and that gave birth to Vokacom Reality. That is a real estate company that helps individuals and corporate institutions to pay their rent,” he stated.

He explained that as time went on, they noticed they couldn’t locate some of the houses they rented and so “we decided to give a GPS tag to all the properties we rented and kept the addresses in our system. With time, this was modified and that gave birth to AsaaseGPS’’.
